A Fantastic Day At The Gwyl Ynysybwl Festival 2024

On the 25th of August 2024, Ynysybwl was buzzing with excitement as the annual Gwyl Ynysybwl Festival took over The Rec. Organised by the Ynysybwl Enterprise Programme, the event promised fun and entertainment for all ages, and it certainly didn’t disappoint! With free entry for the under 16s and a modest £10 fee for adults, the festival was a welcoming community affair.

Fun for the Kids

The kids were in for a treat with an array of activities under the Kids Fun Fest banner. From the exhilarating 65ft Mini Mayhem assault course to the interactive animal petting zoo, there was something to delight every child. The Citrus Arts circus wowed the crowd with performances and workshops, while the Skateboard Academy, open from 1-4pm, had the older kids showing off their skills.

Younger children had a blast on the giant inflatable slide and the bouncy castles, while face painting and glitter brought smiles and sparkles to little faces. The environmental arts workshop and crafting station provided a creative outlet for those with an artistic flair. All of these activities were free of charge and ran from midday until 5pm, ensuring the kids were thoroughly entertained all afternoon.

Something for Everyone

Adults weren’t left out either. The festival grounds were dotted with arts and crafts stalls, offering unique handmade items. A range of catering options kept everyone well-fed, from juicy burgers and bacon rolls to sweet crepes. For the grown-ups, a well-stocked bar was on hand to keep the refreshments flowing.}

Music to Our Ears

The festival wasn’t just about food and fun; the Gwyl Festival Music Line-up kept spirits high all day long. Local radio station GTFM broadcasted live from the event, kicking off the music at midday. The stage saw a fantastic line-up of acts including Neon Black, The Lonely Hearts (Acoustic Beatles), The Sandboys, Tears for Beers, Rum 23, Electronika, and a show-stopping Madonna Tribute by Tasha Leaper.

Even the rain couldn’t dampen the mood, with plenty of impromptu dancing breaking out – likely encouraged by a visit or two to the alcohol tent!

Looking Forward to Next Year
This annual event not only brings joy to the community but also serves a greater purpose, helping to raise funds for a good cause, which help the YEP offer additional free events throughout the year for the children of its community.  Despite the damp weather, the feedback from all that attended has been amazingly positive with most asking to secure their spot again next year!

CBS are very privileged to be able to support this enterprise group, and our CEO, Rachel Bedgood is the Director and organiser of the event, supported by a team of volunteers who work tirelessly to create events that’s bring together communities.  Social value contributions matter to CBS and all its staff, we want to support and contribute wherever possible to enhance the lives of others.

Preparations are already underway, and if this year was anything to go by, the 2025 Gwyl Ynysybwl Festival will be an event not to be missed!
