CBS’s charity walk for Wales Air Ambulance

This year, CBS has proudly chosen Wales Air Ambulance as our Charity of the Year. This organisation holds a special place in all our hearts, especially for our colleague Lucy Jones. Lucy’s older sister, Sarah, required their life-saving services during a critical time. Since her illness, Sarah has been an inspiration, raising over £5,000 to thank the medics who saved her life.

In June, CBS staff members participated in the Walk Wales event, taking on the challenge of walking Pen y Fan and accumulating 50 miles (or more) during lunch breaks, after work, and on weekends. We’ve even set up a CBS challenge board to see who can walk the furthest throughout the month.

The lovely weather has been a blessing for our participants, making each walk enjoyable and uplifting. To date, we have raised £740 for this worthy cause, and we hope to raise even more in honour of Sarah. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a significant difference.

Sarah’s Story
Sarah Jones, from Rhondda Cynon Taf, experienced a life-threatening cardiac arrest at work last year. Thanks to the immediate and brave actions of her colleague Emileigh, who performed CPR, and the advanced critical care provided by Wales Air Ambulance, Sarah’s life was saved. The service, delivered through a partnership between Wales Air Ambulance and EMRTS Cymru, brings hospital-standard treatments directly to the patient.

In gratitude, Sarah organised a fundraising event that raised an incredible £5,082. The event, held at Pentre Legion, featured games, an auction, and a raffle, bringing together friends, family, and CBS staff.

In addition, CBS staff raised £305 through an Easter raffle by donating and selling hampers filled with Easter eggs and wine.

We are continuously inspired by Sarah’s story and her dedication to giving back. Thank you to everyone who has contributed and supported our efforts to raise funds for Wales Air Ambulance. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Although we have closed off donations for this particular event, we are planning more events throughout the year as we feel so strongly that a charity of this nature needs to be continually supported, and you are more than welcome to show your appreciation of Wales Air Ambulance by making a donation. Your support goes towards a very worthy cause, helping to ensure this life-saving service continues to be available for those in need. Sarah’s story is a reminder that we all may need this service at some point in our lives.
