In the valleys, there is a strong sense of community, in 2005 CBS was founded in the village of Ynysybwl, and trade with a massive social conscience to support the local area. Rachel Bedgood CEO has always been keen to create employment opportunities within the village. CBS has grown considerably since it was founded 12 years ago, employing 12 staff all from the local valleys. Supporting the community has always been on the CBS agenda and continues to form an important part of the culture.
CBS has supported lots of local events over the years, one of which includes supporting Butchers paddling pool every year throughout the six-week summer holidays. Volunteering four members of staff each week, helping to meet the RCT requirements allowing the pool to stay open. Without volunteers, the pool would sadly be forced to close and we are proud to support this local facility. We have our fingers crossed that the rest of the summer holidays will bring some hot sunny weather!
Throughout the year, CBS support and often take part in events such as the Tipsy Challenge which is always good fun. CBS is always happy where possible to make donations and give prizes to local sports clubs. Every year on Remembrance Sunday, CBS sponsor a wreath for the British Legion.
CBS choose a charity to support every year, holding fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for the nominated charity. This year we choose to support the Alzheimer’s Society. Since the start of the year we have held a Wimbledon Style afternoon tea and this week we plan to pick our next activity out of a hat! Moving forward each month we plan to complete a different activity and those who do not wish to take part must pay a forfeit price, all money paid will go to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Supporting the Christmas display in the village every year is a great way to get into the festive spirit. With just over 4 months to go until Christmas, it won’t be long now!
If you have any suggestions for how the CBS team can help raise even more money please let us know, we are a daring bunch and will accept any suggestion!
