The Poppy Appeal 2017

Rachel Bedgood CEO of Complete Background Screening (CBS) is always keen to support the local community and charitable activities. The Poppy Appeal needs over 300,000 people to help each year with their annual fundraising campaign in the UK. Every year CBS has sponsored a wreath for the British Legion on Remembrance Sunday. Last year whilst attending the Service, Rachel spoke to Barry Williams, it was mentioned that the numbers of volunteers in the area were dwindling, and The Poppy Appeal were struggling to cover all areas in Ynysybwl.

Rachel contacted the Secretary of The Poppy Appeal Leighton James offering CBS’ support to help fundraise. The Poppy Appeal already has collection boxes in local shops and many of the streets have collectors, however with the reduced number of volunteers it was difficult to ensure there were enough collectors in the area.

This year the CBS team will be supporting The Poppy Appeal, selling poppies door to door and collecting donations. On November 8th, 9th and 10th   the staff will be on Robert Street and Dan-Y-Cribyn, due to the lack of volunteers in these areas.

Without the support of Rachel and the CBS team, The Poppy Appeal would have struggled to cover all the areas in Ynysybwl and CBS is proud to support this year’s Poppy Appeal. Rachel is in the process of becoming a member of the British Legion and CBS will continue to support the British Legion and The Poppy Appeal in the future.

Jeannette Sweet, organiser for Ynysybwl Poppy Appeal dropped off the poppies this morning to the CBS office and the team and eager to start raising money. If you would like to support this year’s Poppy Appeal and donate, please feel free call into the CBS office in Ynysybwl to get your poppy today.
