Happy New Year from CBS!
At the start of a new year we look forward to what 2018 may bring, this year we will see several changes that will affect your organisaton:
Changes to Basic Disclosures
From January 2018 there are significant changes to Basic Disclosures. The way in which basic level disclosures are processed will change, both the DBS and Disclosure Scotland will be processing these checks.
If you require a basic disclosure for a job role based in England or Wales, you should apply to Disclosure and Barring Service. If you require a basic disclosure for a job role based in Scotland you should apply to Disclosure Scotland.
This new system will enable applicants to access their completed basic disclosure certificates online and have the ability to raise queries and track the progress of their check. Our systems have been running smoothly since the launch and we are currently seeing a dramatic increase in completion times, with almost 80% of applications being completed in less than 24 hours. If you have any enquiries, please contact us.
GDPR
The new regulations for GDPR become effective. The way in which we can collect and hold data will change and increased fines will be incurred if these new regulations are not adhered to. The old Data Protection Act 1998 will be superseded on May 25th giving individuals more control over their personal data is used. Any data that could potentially be used to identify an individual is classed as personal data:
- IP addresses
- Email address
- Any health-related information
Organisations will have to provide a clear audit trail as to when consent was given for them to capture and store this data, however, individuals have the right to withdraw consent at any time.
CBS are fully prepared for the new GDPR legislation. All our systems are compliant, and we have full consent audit trails for the data that we hold.
